Alexander Hofmann Consulting takes the protection of your personal data seriously. Personal data is processed exclusively within the framework of applicable data protection law — in particular the revised Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP, in force since 1 September 2023) and the cantonal data protection legislation of the Canton of Basel-City.
We collect and process personal data only where:

- a legitimate interest on our part exists that does not override your interests,
- a legal obligation requires it, or
- processing is necessary for the performance of a contract.

- Content of your enquiry
This data is used solely to process your enquiry and to initiate or conduct a business relationship.
3.2 Usage Data (Server Logs)
When you visit our website, technical data transmitted by your browser to our server is automatically recorded:
- IP address (anonymised)
- Date and time of access
- Pages and files accessed
- Browser type and version
- Operating system
- Referrer URL (the page from which you arrived)
This data is used solely to ensure the technical operation of the website and is not linked to any other data sources. Retention period: maximum 30 days.

Our website uses only technically necessary cookies required for its operation. No tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies are used.
Technically necessary cookies are automatically deleted at the end of your browser session (session cookies) or after a defined period.
4. Purpose and Legal Basis of Data Processing

- Responding to enquiries and building business relationships (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR / Art. 31 revFADP)
- Providing consulting and interim management services (contract performance)
- Compliance with statutory retention obligations — in particular under the Swiss Code of Obligations and Swiss tax law (legal obligation)
- Protection of legitimate interests (e.g. ensuring IT operations, fraud prevention)
5. Disclosure of Data to Third Parties
We do not generally disclose your personal data to third parties. Disclosure occurs only in the following exceptional circumstances:
- Where you have given your explicit consent
- Where necessary for the performance of a contract (e.g. external specialists engaged within a mandate, subject to prior agreement)
- Where required by law (e.g. authorities, tax authorities of the Canton of Basel-City)
Personal data is not transferred to countries outside Switzerland or the European Economic Area (EEA), except to the extent unavoidable for the use of technical infrastructure (e.g. web hosting) — and in such cases only to countries with a recognised level of data protection.
6. Retention Periods
We retain your data only for as long as necessary for the respective purpose or as required by statutory retention obligations:
- Contact data and correspondence: 10 years pursuant to the Swiss Code of Obligations (CO Art. 958f)
- Mandate-related documents: 10 years after conclusion of the mandate
- Server logs: maximum 30 days
- Application documents: 6 months after completion of the process (where applicable)
Upon expiry of the retention period, data is securely and irreversibly deleted.
7. Your Rights
As a data subject, you have the following rights under the revFADP and, where applicable, the GDPR:
- Right of access: You may request information about the data stored about you at any time.
- Right to rectification: You may request the correction of inaccurate data.
- Right to erasure: You may request the deletion of your data under the conditions provided by law.
- Right to restriction of processing: You may request the restriction of data processing.
- Right to data portability: You may request that we provide your data in a commonly used format.
- Right to object: You may object to the processing of your data on the basis of legitimate interests.
- Right to withdraw consent: Any consent given may be withdrawn at any time with effect for the future.

Despite careful precautions, absolute security of data transmission over the internet cannot be guaranteed.
